Do I Smell Fresh-Baked Bread?

Submitted by Dianne McD. Call me a rebel without a cause, but I don’t do new year resolutions.  I do, however, like setting goals for myself.  Potato – Potata?  Maybe. About three years ago, I started keeping a Bullet Journal.  (You can Google “bullet journal” and find a myriad of sites to learn about them.)  As I was setting up my journal for 2019, I had an extra page towards the front.  So I wrote, “this year, I will…” as a heading.  I’d never included a page like that in previous journals; and it was dangerously close to becoming a page for new year resolutions. Read More →

Submitted by Liz M. Part two of gift ideas! Links are listed for further information and reviews. Please strongly consider making your purchases from our local quilt stores! If we do not support them, they will not remain in business. Silicon Iron Rest Have you tried these mats for your iron? Per the experts at Reliable irons, we should always keep our irons flat, whether hot or cold. This rest is great for the small travel irons that seem a bit wobbly when upright. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BLCVXPB/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_tai_Qev7DbBFTQ3Z7 Long Tweezers What do you use to remove pesky threads behind your bobbin, or paper from your paper- piecing projects?Read More →

Submitted by Dianne M. Last year, we posted a gift/wish guide for the holidays.  If you missed it, you can see it here.  We had so much fun, we thought we’d do it again this year.  Who knows, maybe this will become an annual thing.  But for now, let’s get this party started… First up for 2019 is the Yazzii bag. Imagine having your sewing, knitting, or even jewelry neatly organized in a bag that you can grab and go.  You can visit their website at yazzii.com.  To top it all off, they have a page called Inspirations full of ideas on how to personalizeRead More →

The Storytellers – Interesting Quilt Group Right in Our Backyard

Submitted by Naomi M. This is a group of 6 quilters who have come together to form The Storytellers. They are each very unique individual quilters, but have formed this group to spend time together, share quilting life, and to challenge each other each year to a different theme. They have been showing their work at the Northwest Quilting Show, and at other venues. Their work stood out to me at the Northwest Quilt Shows during 2018, and 2019- my first two visits to the show. What I really enjoyed was that they often used examples from Portland, and the Northwest as material for theirRead More →

Submitted by Liz M. There are many terms for projects that are partially completed: Works in Progress (WIPs), Unfinished Objects (UFO), Projects in Grocery Bags (PIGs) and others. If you have been quilting for awhile, you may have accumulated a group of projects or patterns that need some work to finish them up. I have been quilting for over 40 years (wow!) and have quite a collection. Most of my WIPs are completed tops that simply need to be layered and quilted. They have not been finished for a few reasons: my piecing skills surpass my quilting skills, I enjoy piecing and starting new projects!Read More →
