Before we get too far into 2025, let’s take one more look back at 2024 with our final 25th Anniversary celebration.  On November 26th, at our General Meeting, our members revealed the final results of our 2024 Quilt Challenge.  In keeping with our anniversary focus for the year, Ruth T challenged us to make something using 25 of anything–be it 25 fabrics, 25 threads, 25 seams–you get the picture. All of our members were given a fat quarter of silver fabric to use in our challenge projects or any other way we wanted. Linda G sent an article posted by the American Quilter’s Society.  They surveyed their followers to find the most popular quilting tools, and this article gives the results.  The “Extra Aids” were especially enlightening. You can read this short article by using the button below. Just curious…What is your favorite tool?  How many rulers do you have?  Who counts tablets, computers, or other tech gadgets in their favorite quilting tools?  Let us know in the comments below. Thanks, Linda, for bringing this to our attention!Read More →

Ruthann recently sent us this article that shows how Emily acquired the quilts and how she then used them to brighten up her new craft shed.  It’s an interesting read, and will make you think about old quilts in a new light.  You can read the article by clicking this button. This year has been one big celebration here at the Metropolitan Patchwork Society (MPS) as we marked our 25th anniversary! Back in March, we invited everyone—MPS members and anyone else with a passion for sewing—to create some “Wonky Square” blocks. These quirky, playful blocks were to become part of a special quilt project, and as more and more blocks poured in, we soon realized we had something big on our hands. What started as one quilt quickly became four! The design we selected, called Tipsy City Quilt, was chosen by Marcia S and Michelle N from Quilting Modern by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen. If you are reading this, you probably have a passion for quilting and all it brings to your life: creativity, sense of accomplishment, friendships with other quilters, and comfort.  But with this passion comes a few problems like overpacked closets and surfaces filled with quilts.  Most of us are not giving up quilting, so what to do with the home that has quilts spilling out everywhere? While trying to pack away my summer and patio quilts and get out my Fall quilts, I faced reality. I had too many quilts.  And this wasRead More →
