Sally is coming to Portland during April, 2015.  She will give a presentation to the Northwest Quilters Guild followed by two days of workshops hosted by NWQ.  She will then close out her Portland visit by leading a No-Sew lecture and demonstration which will be hosted by us, the Metropolitan Patchwork Society. The two guilds have joined forces to bring Sally to town and all activities are open to members of both guilds.  The members of both NWQ and MPS will also enjoy each guild’s own “membership” pricing for everything.  What could be better?!! Q.  What has 16 thumbs and is showing some beautiful quilts in West Linn? A.  The MPS small group, Quilters On The Edge (QOTE) Yes, the small group has several quilts hanging at the West Linn Library in the Community Room.  These quilts are the result of their many group projects and will be displayed through the entire month of January.  There is a lot of diversity in their projects, so you will see a lot of different kinds of quilts. Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts Taken straight from the book, “Simple Shapes, Spectacular Quilts” by Kaffe Fassett, MPS is offering a workshop on January 31, 2015.  The workshop topic will be Bordered Diamond quilts, and the instructor is our own member, Betsy Sayre.  She has taken a bordered diamond class from Mr. Fassett himself and loves, Loves, LOVES the pattern.  In fact, she’s already made nine (yup, 9!) bordered diamond quilts.  That makes her something of an expert.
