Krista Moser recently shared a fun and informative blog post about the history behind some of the traditional quilt blocks we all know and love. She covered quite a few familiar favorites, but I especially enjoyed learning more about the origins of the Log Cabin block—such a classic with a surprising backstory! If you’re curious, I think you’ll really enjoy it too. Just click the button below to check out the article!
Read Krista’s BlogThis inspired me to look into a block that I really like, the Dresden Plate. Did you know that the block, which became popular in the 1920’s and 1930’s, traces back to designs used for porcelain made in and around Dresden, Germany? Do you know the history of any other blocks? Please share it with us in the comments below.

I have always loved the Churn Dash block because of it’s versatility. But I’m also crazy about all the star blocks.
Learning something new every day is a wonderful goal. Krista Moser is very inspiring and I appreciate her weekly posts! It would be interesting to learn what block each member of our guild likes. I like half square triangles and use them in many of my projects.
