Submitted by Dianne McD. Don’t you just love problem solving with a group of creatives?  I sure do!! Never do I ever hear the phrase, “I don’t know…” The MPS Board members meet over Zoom once a month to handle the business and decision making for our Guild.  As we were winding up our October 2023 meeting, I just happened to mention that I thought the committee that I co-chair with Marcia S needed an updated name. When I first became part of the Board, we were called the Website committee.  Then as we expanded to areas beyond the website, we changed the name toRead More →

Submitted by Dianne McD. At our last MPS guild meeting held on September 26th, 2023, we welcomed Krista Moser as our guest lecturer.  Krista introduced us to a new Creative Grids ruler that she designed, and then she took us on a whirlwind virtual tour through her trunk of quilts! At the end, many of us had visions of angular quilt blocks dancing in our heads. Her ruler is called the 60-degree Diamond, and the Big comes in an 8 1/2 inch version and the Mini in a 4 1/2 inch version.  With this ruler, one can cut diamonds, triangles, trapezoids, parallelograms, and even hexagons. Read More →

Submitted by Dianne McD. Have you ever heard of a Hope quilt?  I hadn’t until the other day when the author of a new novel called “Scraps” reached out to MPS to tell us about his newest novel.  Dr. Ted M. Moore was inspired to write this novel by the Hope quilt that his mother had made for his father while he was flying missions during World War II.  In fact, the photo on the book cover is of the actual quilt his mother made. Dr. Moore summarizes his novel in this way: Jake Conner has spent the last three years fighting a war heRead More →

Greetings All! It’s almost the middle of September already and MPS continues to thrive! We had an outstanding (in every way) silent auction in August that resulted in a record setting total that will go straight into the wonderful programs for 2023-2024 that our Programs team has planned.  Thank you one and all for helping organize, bundle, set up, shop, tally, run and take down for this sensational event.  Brava! Speaking of Programs, we welcome April Campbell to that team.  She has enthusiastically signed on to be a part of this vital MPS opportunity.  Thank you, April! So, here is a confession….I always have knownRead More →

Still Thinking About the MPS 2023 Challenge?

Submitted by Dianne McD. It’s been a little over 9 months since MPS announced the quilt challenge for 2023.  The theme is “Heritage on a Small Scale” and you can read more about the challenge by following the button link below. I really like this particular challenge and have been thinking about what I could create for it.  So far it’s been lots of random ideas with nothing cohesive coming together to make a smallish challenge quilt.  Nothing feels quite right. Deb Messina is an MPS member who has accepted the challenge, but had also struggled to come up with a concrete plan.  Deb ownsRead More →
