On April 22, 2023 which also happened to be Earth Day, MPS presented our biannual indoor quilt show at the Beaverton City Library.  We showed many beautiful and interesting quilts and had more than 300 attendees.  Many wandered in from the library and some came over from the Farmer’s Market that was in full swing across the street from the library.  And, of course, we had many of our own friends and family present to see our quilts on display.  We were thrilled to share our quilts with so many members of the community, many of whom are non-quilters.  Our “demonstrators”Read More →

Submitted by Dianne McD.  (click on any image for a larger view) Back in February, I told you about a weaving exhibit being held at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU.  The name of the exhibit is “Weaving Data” and it explores the relationship between computers and weaving.  You can read that blog post here. Submitted by Dianne McD. At our MPS Guild meeting for March 2023, Laurie Wildey of 406 Quilts and Crafts came to us over Zoom and taught us Shannon Brinkley’s method of Scrappy Applique. Two days later, 13 MPS members gathered in the conference room of Bethel Congregational Church to try their hand at this new (to them) quilting technique.  The play day was facilitated by our Program Chairs, Christie and Liz.  Although the room was small, the success rate was huge! Do you remember when you were in elementary school and returned in the fall, and how you always had to write a report about what you did over your summer vacation?  Me either–too long ago!  But I’ll attempt to emulate that report anyway. During the weekend of March 3rd-5th in 2023, MPS hosted a Spring Retreat at the Alton Collins Retreat Center which is set in the woods near Sandy, Oregon.
