Early Quilt
“Happy 85th Birthday to my Mom” This is one of my early quilts. I hand embroidered the muslin squares and then designed the quilt around the finished squares. I loved the backing fabric and was able to make it work by adding the same border fabric as on the front. This quilt came back to me after my Mom’s passing 10 years ago. There are a few tea stains and Sharpie lines on it so I’m pretty sure it was used.
Skill Building to Boost My Quilting
“Merry Sampler” Although I had already been quilting for about 8 years, I was “absolutely” delighted with this class (Absolutely Beginning Quilting) and its positive effects on both my quilting skills and knowledge. Each student selected their own fabrics. I used the border fabric as the inspiration for the rest of my fabric choices. The backing is the same as the borders. I did simple stitch-in-the-ditch quilting.
Largest Quilt
“Stars at the Beach” I made this quilt with over 2,500 pieces for my son and his wife. It is the largest quilt I’ve ever made and may be the largest one I’ll ever make! The Bloc-Loc rulers were extremely helpful in keeping the blocks even in size which made putting everything together so much easier. I loved finding the extra-wide quilt backing, thanks to my friend, Pat. Quilted by Jenice Poff.
