Flowers + quilts = the perfect spring pairing! Quilters have long featured flowers in their quilts, such as the time-honored appliqued Baltimore Album and the English paper-pieced Grandmother’s Flower Garden.  Today, it’s hard not to include flowers in our quilting when the options include a wide variety of techniques as well as stunning floral fabrics and fun quilting motifs. Marcia in Ireland

When Marcia C. isn’t quilting, she loves to travel. Here she is in Ireland last year. The National Quilting Association (NQS) designated the month of March as National Quilting Month in 1991.  It began as a way to showcase and promote quilting. Quilt shows were held during the month with classes for quilters to learn about techniques and the history of traditional quilts. Educational programs were developed to educate and certify quilt judges and historians. Way back in January of 2015, two MPS small groups decided to join forces and work on a project together.  The members of the group, “Threads of Friendship” and the group, “Quilters on the Edge” entered the planning stages of their “Tula” project which was to begin in April.  The project was based around the book, “Tula Pink’s City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks”.  The project was outlined as follows: From a pool of pre-arranged colors, each of the 12 members would be assigned one color.
