Once a month, we will try to showcase a quilt from one of our MPS members.  Whether we’ve been quilting for decades or are just beginning our quilting journey, we are a talented bunch; and we inspire each other regularly with the many wonderful quilts that are created.  So it seems fitting that we showcase a quilt in hopes it will inspire others.  (You can click on any of the images to see a larger view.) Five Gardens If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a group of quilters plants an idea and lets it grow, look no further than the Friday Friends. This MPSRead More →

Submitted by Dianne McD. Every year, my small group goes on a quilting retreat for three nights in January.  We generally search VRBO or AirBnB to find a house that will work for us.  These are our search parameters in order of importance:  must have enough space for each of us to set up a sewing station (which usually involves moving furniture), must have enough sleeping space (beds preferred, but I slept on an air mattress on the floor once!), must have a decent kitchen for dinner preparation (we take care of ourselves individually for breakfast and lunch). A few weeks ago, an email cameRead More →

A.  The MPS small group, Quilters On The Edge (QOTE) Yes, the small group has several quilts hanging at the West Linn Library in the Community Room.  These quilts are the result of their many group projects and will be displayed through the entire month of January.  There is a lot of diversity in their projects, so you will see a lot of different kinds of quilts. The group members are Becky Bohlinger, Candy Fullaway, Claudia Evers, Jacque Ervin, Jan Shipman, Jean Kelly, Judy Liebo, and Lisa Roberts. These women areRead More →

Candy’s 1st Round Robin What a great name for a small group!  When asked how they arrived at that, they said that the group came up with a list of figures of speech, played around with them, and landed on this one.  (Great job, ladies–this “figure of speech” aptly describes your small group!) Individually and together as a group, they have produced many stunning traditional quilts and “edgy” art quilts. Becky’s Round Robin The Quilters on the Edge consist of Becky Bohlinger, Jacque Ervin, Claudia Evers, Candy Fullaway, Jean Kelly, Judy Liebo, Lisa Roberts, and Jan Shipman.  (Do you remember Becky and Jacque being included inRead More →

Who are the Winey Quilters?

This MPS small group has been around for awhile but has seen its membership change over the years. Jacque Ervin and Michelle Herrmann are the original charter members of the small group.   As other members left the group or moved away, Jacque and Michelle were joined by Becky Bohlinger, Liz McElhinny, Christie Frey, and finally, Dianne McDonnell.  Because they feel that they have achieved a good cohesiveness, they now consider themselves a “closed” small group. How did they come up with this name for their group?  Well, it seems that at one of their weekend quilting retreats on the Oregon Coast, there were more bottles of wine per capita than actual food items. Read More →
