“Connecting Squares” Continuing with my 2 1/2” squares quilts for the year, I got this idea from Pinterest. I included the inspiration piece. I tried to use dark and light values on the rainbow colored squares. Line quilting on the light background help to set off the squares.

Carol "Bird Song"“Bird Song” I had tried to make a similar leaf quilt using different methods without success. I hoped this pattern and ruler would help me achieve my goal. It was not an easy quilt to make, but I was happy with the results.

“Birthday Banner” Will turns 11 and is proud to be in scouting! Quilting friends in Coffee Chat had sons who were in scouting and offered all sorts of ideas.

A present from my sister following the Aug 21, 2017 solar eclipse. Kit was put together by The Stitchin’ Post in Sisters, OR. I procrastinated putting it together for years because it looked hard, I didn’t like the fabric selection and I would have to make my own quarter circle template. I finally made it last year and just got it back from my Longarm quilter. Quilted by Debbie Jewell.

“Picnic Blanket” One of my twin granddaughters asked for a picnic blanket quilt as a gift for her 13th birthday. And could it look like gingham, be red and be big enough for 3 people with food in the middle? We decided on the size and she approved the fabrics I pulled from my stash. I backed it with water-resistant rip stop nylon fabric and lined it with thin polyester batting. She loves it!

“I Spy” This quilt welcomes my nephew’s foster daughter as she is legally adopted into our family. Making this quilt has resulted in me becoming very comfortable with sewing partial seams. Quilted by Jenice Poff.

Kathy "Hearts"“Hearts” This was inspired by the free pattern “Love Lodge” from Stuff Sydney Sews.

“Tumbling Sneakers” I saw this collection of blocks online, but I don’t remember where, and redrafted them. The blocks are 16″.

“Stephanie’s Baby” My Speech Therapist is expecting a baby in June. She has worked with me for the last few months in a clinical trial for 2-3 hours a day, 3 days a week. She is committed to getting me through the entire series before she takes her maternity leave. I found this panel in my stash and thought she deserved a reward.

“Entwined” This is the 18th Valley Church Combo quilt I have made using fabrics that were made into quilts for our High School Seniors. This little quilt stays at the church and is a reminder of all who have gone through our youth programs. The theme evolved from the notion that these graduates have been woven into our lives for a long time. Some since their birth.

“Color Explosion” After the holidays, I told my granddaughter, Isla, that it was time for her to “design” her own quilt. I had a specific process for her to follow when choosing fabrics from my stash, the quilt pattern, and even the thread color. We “Galaxy Gals” each supported Isla in this fun project when piecing and laying out the blocks per Isla’s directions! It was a memorable quilting time together!
