Longtime MPS member Michelle Herrmann said her goodbyes a few days ago at the August guild meeting. She and her husband are moving to Seattle. Karla Alexander was the featured speaker at the July 28 MPS meeting. Karla, who lives in Salem, is a nationally known quilt designer, author, teacher, and designer of specialty rulers. Her patterns are available under the name Saginaw Street Quilt Company. MPS members were treated to a trunk show featuring many of the quilts pictured in her eight books, including her latest book Stack, Shuffle and Slide: A New Technique for Stack the Deck Quilts (That Patchwork Place, 2014). Sally is coming to Portland during April, 2015.  She will give a presentation to the Northwest Quilters Guild followed by two days of workshops hosted by NWQ.  She will then close out her Portland visit by leading a No-Sew lecture and demonstration which will be hosted by us, the Metropolitan Patchwork Society.
