Beyond the welcome appearance of crocuses, daffodils, and daphne, the arrival of spring in the Portland metro area is heralded by a series of quilt shows. The first of these is coming up this weekend (Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19): the 22nd Annual Airing of the Quilts at the Milwaukie Center. Described as a community quilt show, the Airing of the Quilts is not affiliated with a guild. On Saturday, June 4th, MPS is hosting a workshop and Ann Shaw is the instructor.  She spoke at one of our MPS meetings in 2015, and we were greatly inspired by her work.  She makes beautiful art quilts using a piecing method based on what she learned from Ruth McDowell; and with Ruth’s blessing, she is teaching others.  We are excited to have her teach at one of our workshops.
