Submitted by Liz M. Last month, I asked what topics MPS members would enjoy reading about. Thank you for your replies! We have such a variety of interests in the guild which allows us to explore many topics. Many small groups have chosen a pattern and each member selects their fabric and stitches on their own quilt. The result is a group of quilts connected by the pattern but always interesting to see how the choice of fabrics affects the result! The internet has expanded opportunities for quilters to participate in a Quilt Along. It has allowed individuals who may not be involved with aRead More →

Submitted by Dianne McD. Way back in January of 2020, when the world was still normal, our Chair elect Linda, presented a challenge to all of us during our Guild meeting.  Our challenge was to create a quilt that was 20″ x 20″ made from 20 fabrics that were pulled from our stash in 20 minutes.  It sounded like great fun! The grand Reveal of the 2020 Challenge Quilts was set for our Guild meeting on November 24th, 2020. Little did we see then what was barreling down the tracks towards our community. Between January and the end of November, we had experienced a world-wideRead More →

Submitted by Liz M. The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is held the second Saturday of July each year. This year, July 11, marked the 45th anniversary of the show. Due to COVID-19 cancellations, the show used the internet and social media to hold the show virtually. A virtual show is not the same as an in-person show but the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and The Stitchin’ Post teams put a lot of work into sharing quilts and information with quilters around the world. During the week prior to the show, 12 quilts were shared each day and two demonstrations were posted on The Stitchin’ PostRead More →

Way back in January of 2015, two MPS small groups decided to join forces and work on a project together.  The members of the group, “Threads of Friendship” and the group, “Quilters on the Edge” entered the planning stages of their “Tula” project which was to begin in April.  The project was based around the book, “Tula Pink’s City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks”.  The project was outlined as follows: From a pool of pre-arranged colors, each of the 12 members would be assigned one color. At the group meeting, which was held once a month, the “star” member would distribute 5 fat-eighths of fabric,Read More →

Sidnee is an artist who uses fabric and fiber as her medium, and who, in 2007, developed her own unique method of applique to make quilts.  Using her photographs, computer processing software, fabric and free-motion sewing, she creates beautiful art quilts.  While her earlier art quilts were more traditional and abstract in design, she considers her current work to be more representational of what she sees in her photos. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and art shows around the country as well as internationally.  Some of her quilts are part of individual private collections.   She was featured in an episode of Oregon Art Beat, which is aRead More →
